Question by : DIY Solar panels for home?
Im interested in constructing my own solar panels out of individual photovoltaic cells, I m a resident in the UK and Id like to attatch them to my south facing shed roofs. After a bit of research ive found the cells for £400 for 300 pieces ( 6 x 6 polycrstalline) or £250 for 100 pieces ( 6 x 6 mono crystalline), each individual cell will generate a max output of just over 4W, so in theory I can generate over a KW on my shed roofs. What are the major advantages of mono over polycrystalline?

Will it be easy to connect these to the house’s power and will it be possible to sell any excess back to the power companies?

Two of us live here but we’re never in so we dont use much electricity, apparently between 3 and 4 KW is the household average usage so I doubt we use more than 2KW, Please let me know if this sounds about right for the amount Im planning to buy.

Are there any grants available for cost of materials? as the government usually pays 50% up to £8000 for domestic solar energy projects? although these are usually supplied and fitted by a registered firm.

Has anyone inititiated a similar idea themselves?

any feedback on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by adaviel
check out some solar power websites
Your panels will make DC and your house runs on AC. So you’ll need an inverter, and batteries to even out the power (I hear golf cart batteries are good – better than car batteries).
The power company is probably very wary if not flat impossible about you selling power back unless there is a good government program forcing them to. You’d probably need regulators, inspections, approved materials etc.
Just to switch over you need a proper isolating switch. You can’t just hook your inverter to a wall socket and hope for the best. You might also have trouble running big items like an electric stove, or things taht take a big inrush current like a fridge or freezer (I’ve tried)

Best answer:

Answer by Tim
Roll up newspapers around the garden. Pick them up in the morning the earwigs are inside. Burn them or toss them and put new ones out to start the process again. Kpig just put the song on “home grown tomatoes.” ( only two things money can’t buy is true love and home grown tomatoes)

Question by : 9th grade Algebra 1 Homework help ?
Im trying but i keep messing it up , help please ? Its Substitution and Elimination .

The School that Gabriella goes to is selling tickets to a play . On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 4 adult tickets and 7 child tickets for a total of 3.00 . The school took in 3.00 on the second day by selling 4 adult tickets and 5 child tickets . What is the price each of one adult ticket and one child ticket ?

Jennifer and Arjun each improved their yards by planting rose bushes and ornamental grass . They bought their supplies from the same store. Jennifer spent 4 on 6 rose bushes and 6 bunches of ornamental glass. Arjun spent on 3 rose bushes and 6 bunches of ornamental grass. What is the cost of one rose bush and the cost of one bunch of ornamental grass?

Best answer:

Answer by Gagan Manj
ad= 1 adult ticket
ct: 1 Child ticket

first day: 4 ad and 7 ct= 3
2nd day: 4 ad and 5 ct=3

4ad+7ct=133
(-)4ad+5ct=103
——————–
2ct=30
1 Child ticket equals 15 dollars, so subsitute the 15 into the second equation
4ad+5(15)=103
4ad+72=103
4ad=31
ad=7.75
So 1 Adult Ticket costs 7.75 dollars

Number 2 can be solved the above way.
Cheers!

Question by : Which dog would be good for me?
I live in a small/medium house with quite a big garden. I have 2 cats, one would probably like to play with the dog and the other one’s outside most of the time so he won’t be much of a problem. It’d be ideal to not have to exercise it too much but I’ll be able to give it a short walk in the morning and a longer walk from after I come home at 3. I don’t mind letting the dog do its business in the garden and neither do my parents.
The main problem is that the dog would have to be alone for 6 hours during the weekdays while my parents are at work and I’m at school. But I don’t mind getting a year old dog instead if that helps. I’d be able to brush the dog daily if needed but it’d be nice not to have to go to the groomer every month. Every few months is fine.
Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by TrumanLazyDog
Many dogs could be a good fit for you, as long as they get some stimulation and exercise. I would definitely suggest getting an adult dog. Puppies cannot hold there bladder very long at all as adults can hold it a pretty long time. I would visit you local animal shelter. If you want low grooming needs I would stick with a short haired dog.
